Working home basics.

Its pretty obvious that due to the phenomenal growth of the Internet, which basically abolished distance, increased accessibility to information and gave instant communications a huge boost, working from home is no longer a fantasy, but rather a solid, modern-day reality.

The first essential step in creating a productive work environment at home is to have your own office. No, this does not mean that you have to start adding extra rooms to your house – it just means that you have to choose a place that’s going to serve as your “office space”, and which must be closed off from the rest of the house. Whether it’s a small, separate room or simply your guest bedroom where you set up your computer and all the materials you need to do your job properly, make sure your family members know this is your own space, and you don’t want any interruptions.

Next step is to learn to say “no” to any distractions or frequent interruptions – unless of course it’s an emergency. Even if it’s just a fifteen minute run to the supermarket down the street for bread and milk, it’s still a distraction; it makes lose focus and waste time getting back into the work mindset upon your return. It’s easy for your other family members to imagine that if you are at home, this means you’re also available to run errands and help around the house. However, don’t fall into the other extreme and don’t shut yourself away from the outside world for days at a time. Working from home allows you to share meals with your family and if you keep to a regular working schedule, you’ll be able to fit in everything you need to do in one day – and then some. Okay! That’s if for now ’cause I still have to looka new area rugs for our house. Have a safe week everyone!

To all parents with college students, this could be very helpful for you. As we all know, time management is one of the hardest things for graduating students, especially for those with a thesis at hand. Just like adults, students have trouble juggling their time between schoolwork, extracurricular activities, family and friends. Time management is something that should have been instilled early on in their lives. However, even for a college student, a bit of reminding and checking up on their daily activities would help.

All you have to do as parents is to sit down with your child and ask him what he’s working on right now. Allot time every day for all the projects that need to be done, without sacrificing other activities included in their daily routine. If possible help him make adjustments as necessary. Seeing that there is enough time to do everything, your child will feel more relaxed and in control of what he initially thought was an impossible pile of projects.

Okay! May this post help you guys! Got to go for now ’cause I still have to look a patio furniture for our backyard. Have a great day everyone!

Love plays a crucial role in family building…

Posted by admin | Web Family Matters, Web House & Home | Tuesday 17 February 2009 11:03 am

Basically, marriages are based on love. Still, the issue of money between two married people cannot be ignored. You should establish the rule at home that money is only secondary and that love reign supreme. Don’t allow money to get in the way of your relationship. Rejoice over sufficient resources, while making the lack of it an occasion for deeper bonding.

  • Make full disclosure of your earnings Avoid keeping any money or hidden wealth a secret. Part of a happy marriage is the trust you put in each other. “The secret of being close is to be often. Realize that earning money is good, but earning respect is better.”
  • Allocate and stick to a budget Prepare a family budget after thorough discussion of expected income or expenses. Any deviation should be agreed upon first, especially when large purchases are at stake.
  • Decide who keeps the purse Whoever is better at financial management should go for it. And, any bank accounts you keep must be a joint account with and/or signatures.
  • Talk objectively about finances Conversations about money should be edifying and affirming, rather than “auditing” and fault finding.

May this post help you guys to realized how important love in a family circle. Okay! Have to go now ’cause I still have to check this Lortone rock tumblers I’ve found earlier. This might be great for my two little nephews. Have a nice day everyone!

House & Home: Tips to beautify your room

Posted by admin | Web Finds, Web House & Home | Monday 9 February 2009 8:42 am

Doing a little decorating around the house and need a few good starting tips, you’ve come to the right place. Summer, in fact, is when most of us socialize more – it’s when we get our vacations, have friends over on weekends for a barbecue and a little poolside fun and generally feel the need to give our living quarters a makeover. The thing is, you don’t have to spend a huge amount of money in order to achieve that, so here are some small suggestions that, if handled properly, will help you go a long way.

Basically, the holy trinity of smart decorating – especially if we’re dealing with small spaces – is light, light and light again. As far as colors go, irrespective of the amount of space you have at your disposal, never paint it pure white, as it will only make it give off a distinct air of dinginess. Use reflective, sparkly fabrics and wallpapers to draw the light in, and aim for at least three sources of light in every room, even if it’s a small one. Smaller, fuzzier sources of light create a cozy, warm feeling – so go for a floor lamp and two table lamps. Set them so as to avoid creating any dark corners.

If you want to go for a more refined look and you are thinking of adding wallpaper or replacing the old one with a new shade and pattern, think outside the box and go for upholstering. The price is not much higher and the soft, matte walls will yield a feeling of homeliness and comfort. Plays on the strengths of your room – for example, if the ceiling is high, compliment it with tall curtains in deep, rich colors such as dark red. Good luck everyone! Oh! You might want to add this Rackmount monitor too in your room? Check this out!
