Reliable Info: Latest Trojan Threat via Email…
Autor admin | 18.11.2008 | Category Web Discussion
This society of cyber-terrorists has developed another method to make sure that a great number of people would fall into their trap. Emails with the “We have hijacked your baby” subject are being sent in order to institute terror among the recipients and make them download a piece of malicious software. The body of the message is written in poor English and goes like this: “Hey We have hijacked your baby but you must pay once to us $50 000. The details we will send later…” The email ends with an unclear message - “We was attached photo of your fume” - that comes together with a .zip file.
Then, you did not know that the photo.zip is in fact a trojan, identified by the security labs at Sophos as being Troj/Resex-Fam, a type of malware that is not dangerous by itself, but downloads into the infected machine other types of malicious software.
The only part of the message that might cause trouble is the attachment, so people are advised not to panic if they read the body of the email without downloading the “picture.” Receiving or reading these widespread emails themselves does not mean you are infected. However, if you open the attachment you’re infecting your Windows computer, and giving hackers an open door to take control and steal information. Once a PC is commandeered, criminals can spy, steal or launch attacks against other parts of the net. So, be careful everyone!
Happy Halloween…
Autor admin | 04.11.2008 | Category Web Discussion, Web Finds, Web Personal, Web Reflections
Halloween is not yet over! There were several people that are still celebrating Halloween parties. For that, let me greet you all first a Happy Halloween everyone! Anyway, why does most of us are celebrating Halloween? What was Halloween actually?
Well, to define the word “Halloween” its origins cames from the ancient Celtic festival known as “Samhain”. The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the “Celtic New Year.” Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient Celtic pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.
As of this present time, Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world, most commonly in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and at times in parts of Australia and New Zealand. Even here in the Philippines, Halloween is habitually exercise by most Christian Filipinos who belieaves that celebrating the day of those deceased people is still part of humans venture.
So, how was your Halloween party everyone? Did you guys enjoyed your day? Hopefully you do! For us here who are now living abroad specially here in the Middle East, Halloween is not recognized. Maybe I guess, its due to culture differences and practices. Anyway, that’s all for now ’cause I still have to check this elliptical machine that I happened to browse which I think is interesting to physically get fit in! But still have to check the price and some other concerns. Have a great week ahead everyone!

Tip: for computer users…
Autor admin | 04.09.2008 | Category Web Discussion, Web Finds, Web Tips
If you’re using Windows 2000 or XP, back up C:\Documents and Settings. This folder contains a subfolder for every user registered for that computer. Each folder called Local Settings (this folder is hidden by default in Windows Explorer, but it should be visible through your backup program’s interface). Each Local Settings folder contains three folders that you should not back up: Temporary Internet Files, Temp, and History. You definitely should back up Application Data (the other Local Settings subfolder).
Unfortunately, not all programs store their data in these folders. If you’re unsure where an app stores its data, go into the program and add a piece of information, such as an address. Then quit the program. Now look for the file, using the Search or Find option in the Start menu.
Search for files modified within the last day. When a file list appears, click the column header labeled Modified or Date Modified. This will show you the most recently changed files on your computer; near the top will be the file that you just changed. If you don’t recognize the file name, look at the folder where it’s stored; this information is shown to the right. The path will usually include the name of the program used to create the file.
If a program is storing data outside the folders you’re backing up, you can include in your backup the file or folder that the program uses, or you can employ the program’s customization options to change where the data is stored. That’s it! Watch out for more computer tips later ’cause I still have to check this futures broker that I’ve found earlier upon browsing the web. This might be the answer on my broker related questions I have in mind. Hope you guys enjoy this post! Have a nice day!
